Tarot & Oracle Deck Printing in New Zealand

Custom tarot and oracle decks, printed here — artwork, guidebook and box, in runs that suit an independent creator.

If you've illustrated a deck, the printing shouldn't be the hard part. Most creators end up quoting with overseas factories that want 500 or 1,000 units minimum and three months of lead time, which is a lot to commit to for a first edition.

We print tarot and oracle decks in New Zealand, in quantities that make sense for someone selling at markets, through their own site, or to a modest mailing list.

What we print

Specifications

Card size. Standard tarot format (70 × 120 mm), or poker size (63.5 × 88.9 mm) if you'd rather a smaller, more shuffleable deck. Custom sizes are possible — tell us what your artwork is built to.

Card stock. 300gsm as standard. Black core is worth considering for a tarot deck — it stops light showing through, which matters when cards are being handled and held up during a reading.

Finishes. Linen texture gives a traditional feel and cuts glare on illustrated faces. Matt is popular for detailed artwork. Gloss makes colour pop but shows fingerprints.

Edges and corners. Rounded corners as standard. Talk to us if you want something less standard.

Artwork

Illustrated decks are usually created card by card, often over months, and the files are rarely set up for print at the end of it. That's normal.

Send us what you have. We check artwork, flag bleed and safe-zone problems, and help get files press-ready. If you're still illustrating, get in touch before you finish — confirming card size and bleed at the start saves rebuilding 78 files later.

The single most common problem we see on illustrated decks is artwork drawn to the exact card size with no bleed, which leaves a white sliver at the edge when it's cut. Easy to avoid if you know early.

Minimums and turnaround

We're indie-friendly. A first edition of fifty is a completely reasonable order — you don't need to warehouse a thousand decks to find out whether people want it.

Most card orders take 7–14 working days once artwork is approved.

If you're testing the market, print a small run, sell it, and reprint. That's a far less risky path than a container from overseas, and it's available to you because we manufacture locally.

Frequently asked questions

How small a run can I order?

Small enough for a first edition. Tell us the card count and roughly how many decks and we'll quote it honestly.

Can you print the guidebook too?

Yes — and sizing it properly to the box is part of the job, not an afterthought.

What size should my cards be?

Traditional tarot is 70 × 120 mm. Poker size is smaller and easier to shuffle. If your artwork isn't drawn yet, decide this first.

Do you offer gilded or foiled edges?

Tell us what you're after and we'll advise on what's achievable at your run size and budget.

Who owns the artwork?

You do. We print it; we don't claim any rights over your illustrations or your files.
